Built in 1957, the Macinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere, and the 3rd longest in the world. Connecting lower Michigan - the "boxing glove" to the Upper Peninsula ["Finnmerica"] the bridge is subjected to some pretty awful conditions. It is always windy, and often frozen.
